About Us

We build the intelligence layer between a strategy and the people who have to execute it.

I ran a global nonprofit with staff in six countries and program participants across the African continent. Every day, someone on my team knew something that needed to reach someone else — a concern, a resource, a piece of context — and it wasn't getting there. Not because people didn't care. Because we had no system for it. I built Pulse because I needed it.

Why we started

Joe Reed, founder of Pulse

Joe Reed

Founder, Pulse

"I could communicate the direction. I just couldn't tell if any of it was actually landing."

I was running a global nonprofit based in Africa. Staff across six countries. Program participants spread across the continent, each needing resources delivered at the right moment. The problem wasn't commitment. Everyone cared. The problem was that I couldn't get the right information to the right person at the right time across that many time zones, languages, and contexts. Concerns would surface in one place and dissolve before anyone could act on them. Resources would exist in one part of the organization and never reach the people who needed them most. Things fell through. Not because anyone was careless. Because there was no infrastructure for it.

I started building internal tools to close the gap. Then I started talking to other nonprofit leaders, to school principals, to business leaders who had donated to our work. Different organizations, completely different contexts. Same problem every time. The gap between what leadership intended and what was actually happening at the ground level. That cross-sector pattern was when I knew this wasn't just an internal tool. It was a product that didn't exist yet.

From sensing to knowing

Every leader has the feeling that something isn't translating. Pulse turns that feeling into evidence you can act on before it becomes a crisis.

Built by listening

We spent years in rooms with practitioners. The tools they had were built for tracking what was trackable. Pulse was built for what mattered.

Trust before insight

Data produced under surveillance isn't honest. Pulse is designed for the conditions that produce honest signal. That's why it's called trust architecture.

Our commitment

We keep building what the people doing the work say they need.

Pulse grew out of real organizational work with real stakes. That origin shapes every product decision we make. We're not building for dashboards. We're building for the moment a leader finally has the evidence to match the instinct they've had for months.

  • Respect your team's time and attention in every deployment
  • Use data to surface context, not enable surveillance
  • Design for adoption, not dashboard theater
  • Make every feature accountable to whether it closes the gap

DESIGNED TO TRACK ALIGNMENT OVER TIME

The vision

Organizations where leaders can see what's coming before it becomes a crisis.

Not better dashboards. Not smarter surveys. Organizations where the distance between what leaders think is happening and what is actually happening is small enough to act on in real time.

We're early. The gap is real. The positioning is unclaimed. And the organizations that most need this tool are the ones doing the work that matters. That's where we're building.

If this sounds like what you've been looking for, let's talk.

30 minutes. Founder to leader. No pitch deck. Just a conversation about what you're trying to build and whether Pulse can help.
